Designed for experienced housing, construction and design professionals who hold a minimum of 12 credits towards a Level 3 qualification in a related subject.

Duration

Supported online learning via our online learning platform, become a qualified Retrofit Coordinator in around 145 guided learning hours. Under this funding, you will need to complete the course by March 2026 and will have 5 months to complete after registration.

Trustmark Accreditation​

Upon completing the course, you will become an accredited TrustMark Retrofit Coordinator through The Retrofit Academy at no extra cost.

Funding for this course is provided by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DfESNZ) via the Midlands Net Zero Hub. The funding is through the Warm Homes Skills Programme, which supports the government’s Warm Homes Programme. Through the Warm Homes Programme, the government supports social landlords and local authorities to deliver large-scale retrofit programmes.

Clive Rowland - Lead Tutor

Clive has over 15 years’ experience in the retrofit industry, including energy assessments of existing and new build dwellings, thermal imaging, air pressure testing, building forensics, post occupancy evaluation and building performance monitoring. He co-wrote and delivered the training for one of the modules for the PAS 2035 Retrofit Co-ordinator qualification and was part of the advisory panel for the Green Deal Advisor National Occupational Standards.

Dominic Ives - Tutor

Dominic is a qualified Retrofit Coordinator with experience working on SHDF Wave 1 projects in the Southwest. He has worked as a natural builder using cob as well as conventional construction and renovation. His further experience and study have focused on practical sustainability, arboriculture, and horticulture. Dominic is also studying part-time for an MSc in Green Buildings and has a keen interest in ultra-low-energy buildings, natural materials, and domestic energy.

Eligibility

To enrol on the Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management, learners should:

  • Hold a professional qualification in a building-related subject such as architecture, surveying, engineering, or construction management; or
  • Hold a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at Level 3 or above in a subject related to the management or supervision of construction and domestic construction projects.

Learners should also be familiar with domestic construction techniques, able to read and understand construction drawings and specifications, and have knowledge of Building Regulations and construction health and safety regulations and practice.

On successful completion of the course, you will be eligible to apply for TrustMark accreditation as a Retrofit Coordinator through The Retrofit Academy Accreditation Scheme, at no extra cost.

Upon graduation, you will become recognised as a Retrofit Academy Professional Member at the appropriate level, often at Associate Level in your early years of practice. You can progress through Practitioner levels to ultimately apply for Retrofit Academy Fellowship.

Becoming a Certified Retrofit Coordinator also opens the door to a range of services designed to support your career and professional development provided by The Retrofit Academy. The first 12 months are FREE post graduation. The ongoing membership fee is £295 plus VAT per year.
