Eligibility
Learners must hold a relevant qualification in architecture, surveying, engineering, construction management, or an NVQ Level 3+ in construction supervision. They should also understand domestic construction, interpret drawings and specifications, and be familiar with Building Regulations and health and safety practices.

Clive Rowland - Lead Tutor
Clive has over 15 years’ experience in the retrofit industry, including energy assessments of existing and new build dwellings, thermal imaging, air pressure testing, building forensics, post occupancy evaluation and building performance monitoring. He co-wrote and delivered the training for one of the modules for the PAS 2035 Retrofit Co-ordinator qualification and was part of the advisory panel for the Green Deal Advisor National Occupational Standards.

Dominic Ives - Tutor
Dominic is a qualified Retrofit Coordinator with experience working on SHDF Wave 1 projects in the Southwest. He has worked as a natural builder using cob as well as conventional construction and renovation. His further experience and study have focused on practical sustainability, arboriculture, and horticulture. Dominic is also studying part-time for an MSc in Green Buildings and has a keen interest in ultra-low-energy buildings, natural materials, and domestic energy.

FUNDING
The Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management is eligible for the CITB short-term qualifications grant, providing up to £600 in funding. This grant can help offset the cost of your education, making it more accessible and affordable.

Certification
After successfully passing your assessments, you will be awarded the Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management, accredited by AIM Qualifications. This certification is highly respected within the industry and provides the professional credibility needed to advance your career.
Eligibility
To enrol on the Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management, learners should:
- Hold a professional qualification in a building-related subject such as architecture, surveying, engineering, or construction management; or
- Hold a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) at Level 3 or above in a subject related to the management or supervision of construction and domestic construction projects.
Learners should also be familiar with domestic construction techniques, able to read and understand construction drawings and specifications, and have knowledge of Building Regulations and construction health and safety regulations and practice.
Assessment
Our courses are designed to ensure you master the essential skills through various assessments to suit all learning types:
- Portfolio of evidence
- Multiple-choice tests at the end of each module
- Short written assignments relating to the key learning objectives
- A verbal presentation relating to the case study
You will receive guidance and feedback from experienced assessors, all of whom are graduates of the Level 5 Diploma and hand-picked for their industry expertise.
TRUSTMARK ACCREDITATION
On successful graduation of the Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management, learners enrolled from the 1st July 2024 will be awarded TrustMark Accreditation for the role of Retrofit Coordinator through the new Retrofit Academy Accreditation Scheme.
Retrofit Academy Professional Membership
Upon graduation, you will become recognised as a Retrofit Academy Professional Member at the appropriate level, often at Associate Level in your early years of practice. You can progress through Practitioner levels to ultimately apply for Retrofit Academy Fellowship.
Becoming a Certified Retrofit Coordinator also opens the door to a range of services designed to support your career and professional development provided by The Retrofit Academy. The first 12 months are FREE post graduation. The ongoing membership fee is £295 plus VAT per year.
After you have completed the certified retrofit coordinator course, you will gain access to The Academy’s Retrofit Professionals’ Hub, providing:
